Altria Statement on FDA’s Proposed New Steps
FDAの規制に対するアルトリアの立場“　We welcome FDA’s efforts to address the underage use of e-vapor products. That is why we believe Congress should raise the legal age of purchase for all tobacco products to 21. We also applaud FDA’s continued recognition of the potential for innovative, less harmful products that can deliver nicotine to adults who want them.
若年層の電子タバコに関する問題についてのFDAの努力について歓迎する。そのため，我々は議会が全てのたばこ製品について購入できる年齢を21歳に上げるべきだと思っている。

We continue to believe that a total ban on menthol cigarettes or flavored cigars would be an extreme measure not supported by the science and evidence. We expect that establishing product standards on menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars will be a multi-year, deliberative process, and we will be fully engaged throughout.
None of FDA’s proposed actions is self-executing. Each will require further action by FDA.”
As of the third quarter, PM USA’s menthol retail share was 10.2%, or approximately 20% of PM USA’s retail share.

科学的根拠もなくメンソールタバコやフレーバー付きたばこを全面禁止するのは強硬措置だ。これらのたばこについては時間をかけてきちんとした基準を構築されることを期待する。他の法令を待たずに施行されたFDAの提案はない。それぞれについてFDAのさらなるアクションを要求する。

• In September, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a number of additional steps to address underage use of e-vapor products. The FDA also asked several companies, including Altria, to provide plans to address underage use of e-vapor products. Altria welcomed FDA’s action and recently met with FDA Commissioner Gottlieb to discuss actions that could be taken.
9月にFDAは若年層の電子タバコの購入についての追加の規制についてアナウンスした。FDAはアルトリアを含む数社に若年層の電子タバコ使用に対する改善策を提供するよう要請した。アルトリアはFDAのゴットフィーブ局長とこの問題について取りうるアクションについて議論した。

Today, Altria announces the following actions, which are included in Altria’s response letter to the FDA posted at altria.com:

• Nu Mark will remove from the market Mark Ten Elite and Apex by MarkTen pod-based products until these products receive a market order from the FDA or the youth issue is otherwise addressed;
Nu Mark（アルトリア傘下の電子タバコメーカー）はいくつかの銘柄についてFDAの認可が出るか若年層の喫煙問題が解決するまで市場から撤去する。

• For our remaining MarkTen and Green Smoke ciga-like products, Nu Mark will sell only tobacco, menthol and mint varieties. Nu Mark will discontinue the sale of all other flavor variants of our ciga-like products until these products receive a market order from the FDA or the youth issue is otherwise addressed; and
残りの商品について，Nu Markは既存たばことメンソール、ミントタイプだけ売ることにする。その他のフレーバーの商品については，FDAの認可が出るか若年層の喫煙問題が解決するまで売らないこととする。

• Altria will support federal legislation to establish 21 as the minimum age to purchase any tobacco product.
